See Spectacular Dancing Shoes Designed and Sold in New York by Phil LaDuca

[ NEW YORK, NY - NYC - 1/8/2010 - www.Littleviews.com ]

>>   On November 6, 2009, I recommended that when in New York, you stop in to see cool, Phil LaDuca-designed, Italian-made shoes used by high-stepping, entertainment-industry dancers, and by people who loved wearing beautiful (and comfortable) shoes.

On December 16, 2009, Phil LaDuca sent an email to friends talking about the thrill of seeing his shoes in the movie NINE on the feet of Hollywood's most beautifully dressed stars. As many of Littleviews' readers love the performing arts, I asked Phil if I could share his message with you, and he said "yes."

Before sharing his message, here is a copy of the information I wrote about LaDuca Shoes, New York, in my November Shopping Tips column:

LaDuca Shoes - dancing shoes for women of all professions:

Laduca Shoes, New York Do you get excited when you see uniquely styled, handcrafted shoes made from glove soft leather by Italian craftsmen? And do you like to dance?

Stop by LaDuca Shoes, where you will see 5th Avenue styles sold on humble 9th Avenue. These dressiest-of-dress shoes are made for the feet of professional dancers (female and male), actors, and commoners, alike.

While there, thrill to the sight of numerous photos of America's top stars who signed their images thanking owner Phil LaDuca for his merchandise. Pricey? Well, these shoes are far more reasonable than what you might buy at Saks, and quite possibly, more comfortable, too.

LaDuca's website (www.LaDucaShoes.com) doesn't begin to visually describe what you'll see in this small, but well-heeled shop. It is located in an interesting-yet-gritty area on 9th Avenue, near the NY NJ Port Authority, several cool (and affordable) restaurants, and the famous Cup Cake Cafe.

For more information on owner Phil LaDuca and many of the celebrities that wear his shoes, check this 2005 TheaterMania article.

NINE and Forever, by Paul LaDuca

I was lucky enough to attend the premiere of NINE last night (scoring tix to the after party as well, meeting Tony Bennett too!). But let me be the first to tell you, NINE is mindblowingly amazing! What an incredible piece of cinematic film making!). For all of us who grew up on Fellini "La Dolce Vida," "La Strada," "Amachord," Marcello Mastroianni, Sophia Loren, Anna Magnani, Claudia Cardinale, this is NIRVANNA!

Scene from the movie NINE

We all knew this was going to be an amazing movie based on the cast (Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Sophia Loren, Judith Dench, Kate Hudson, Fergie, Marion Coutilard, Daniel Day-Lewis) – WRONG – this was an astounding movie based on the production! I never anticipated the film to be so masterful. This movie would have been phenomenal without a single star in it (the fact that they are movie stars makes it all the more amazing as to the superb acting that was drawn out them for each character.

I saw so many things in the film that I never saw in any of the stage versions. The stage version told us how this man created his own beautiful hell from all the women he brought into his life, but the film also showed me how this man created an "ultra chic" Italian vogue world of style/glamour that ultimately became his own worldly prison that brought him fame and prominence, but also madness and insecurity. The layers of the film have such depth. Such pathos. SUPERB!

And the costumes! Oh MY GOD! It wasn't Nicole Kidman, it was Anita Ekberg. The costumes set the time so seamlessly (no pun intended) that we were free to be "in his world." That fabulous world of 60s Italia. The "Cinema Italiano" scene/video is a gift. A gift. It’s as glorious and as magical as Madonna’s "Material Girl," Michael Jackson’s "Beat It." It’s going to be around long after we are gone.

This isn’t just another great movie. It’s cinematic history! And I am SO proud that my shoes are everywhere in the film. On ALL the stars! I was dying! I couldn’t have paid for such advertisement!

Love, love Love,

Phil
